Find Your Bookmarks Toolbar

Need help finding your browser's bookmarks or favorites toolbar? No problem. We've compiled simple step-by-step instructions for every major browser and operating system. Choose your browser/operating system combination on the left to find your bookmarks toolbar, and get ready to Dash away!

Please select your browser and operating system configuration from the menu on the left. If you can't your specific configuration, you can contact us for additional support.

Finding Your Bookmarks Toolbar in Firefox version 10 and newer on a PC.

  1. Launch Firefox.
  2. Right-click in the bar next to the Mozilla Firefox tab.
  3. A drop-down menu should appear.
  4. After right-clicking, a drop down menu should appear.
  5. Go to Bookmarks Toolbar and left-click.
  6. Your Bookmarks Toolbar should appear above the tab.
  7. If you right-click in the bar next to the Mozilla Firefox tab again, you should see a checkmark next to Bookmarks Toolbar.
  8. Bookmarks toolbar enabled.

Finding Your Bookmarks Toolbar in Firefox version 10 and newer on a Mac.

  1. Launch Firefox.
  2. Go to the View menu and left-click on it.
  3. A drop-down menu should appear.
  4. Go to Toolbars. If you don't see Toolbars, make sure you are not accidently in the Finder menu. Try clicking on a Firefox window or opening Firefox again and then check the View menu.
  5. A fly-out menu should appear.
  6. The toolbars fly-out menu..
  7. Go to the option Bookmarks Toolbar and left-click on it.
  8. Your Bookmarks bar should appear underneath the tab and website's URL.
  9. If you go back to View menu, Toolbars, the Bookmarks Toolbar option should have a check next to it.
  10. Bookmarks toolbar enabled.

Finding Your Bookmarks Toolbar in Chrome for Mac and PC.

  1. Launch Chrome.
  2. Go to the Wrench symbol to the far right.
  3. Left-click on the Wrench symbol.
  4. Go down to the Bookmarks option.
  5. A fly-out menu should appear.
  6. The bookmarks fly-out menu.
  7. Go to the option Show bookmarks bar.
  8. Left-click on Show bookmarks bar.
  9. Your Bookmarks toolbar will appear with the message, "For quick access, place your bookmarks here on the bookmarks bar.
  10. If you go back to the Wrench and the Bookmarks option, there should be a checkmark next to Show bookmarks bar.
  11. Bookmarks toolbar enabled.

Finding Your Bookmarks Toolbar in Safari on a PC.

  1. Launch Safari.
  2. Go to the Gear menu and left-click on it.
  3. Opening the gear menu.
  4. Go down to Show Bookmarks Bar and left-click.
  5. Your Bookmarks bar should appear underneath the URL of the website.
  6. If you go back to the Gear menu, it should have the option Hide Bookmarks Bar.
  7. Bookmarks bar enabled.

Finding Your Bookmarks Toolbar in Safari on a Mac.

  1. Launch Safari.
  2. Go to the View menu and left-click on it.
  3. Opening the view menu.
  4. Go down to Show Bookmarks Bar and left-click. If you don't see Show Bookmarks Bar, make sure you are not accidently in the Finder menu. Try clicking on a Safari window or opening Safari again and then checking the View menu.
  5. Your Bookmarks bar should appear above the tab and underneath the URL of the website.
  6. If you go back to the View menu, it should have the option Hide Bookmarks Bar.
  7. Bookmarks toolbar enabled.

Finding Your Favorites Bar in IE9.

  1. Launch IE9.
  2. Right-click in the bar next to the Internet Explorer tab.
  3. A drop-down menu should appear.
  4. After right-clicking, a drop-down menu should appear.
  5. Go to Favorites Bar and left-click.
  6. Your Favorites Bar (Bookmark Bar) should appear below the tab.
  7. If you right-click in the bar next to the Internet Explorer tab again, Favorites Bar should have a checkmark next to it.
  8. Bookmarks toolbar enabled.

Installing and Using Surfdash on your iPad or iPad mini

Hardware Requirements: iPad or iPad mini. Apple or other personal computer or laptop.

Software Requirements: Safari Internet browser and iCloud installed on the computer or laptop.

Note: You will be using iCloud to sync your Safari browser settings from your personal computer to your iPad or iPad mini. To use iCloud you will need WIFI Internet access.

To begin, first examine and set up your personal computer Safari browser bookmark bar settings.

1.     Open the Safari browser on your personal computer or laptop.

2.     Sign in to your Surfdash account.

3.     Add the "Dash it" button to your Safari browser bookmarks bar. Simply drag and drop the "Dash it" logo to the bookmark bar of your browser.  The "Dash it" logo is the orange square located in the top right hand corner of the Surfdash page.

4.     We recommend adding the Surfdash site to your browser's bookmarks bar as well. Simply drag and drop the Surfdash URL icon into your bookmark bar.

Next examine your iPad or iPad mini Safari and iCloud settings.

1.     On your iPad go to "settings". In the left hand menu scroll down and select "Safari". Under Safari's setting make sure "Always Show Bookmarks Bar" is set to "ON".

2.     Continue in iPad "settings" and now select "iCloud". In the iCloud settings make sure that "Safari" is set to "ON".

Finally set the correct settings in iCloud on your personal computer or laptop and sync the Safari browser settings with your iPad or iPad mini.

For PC Users

1.     If you do not already have iCloud on your personal computer or laptop go to: www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ and download the application for free. You will be prompted to create a new or use your existing apple ID and password.

2.     Install and open the iCloud application from your personal computer or laptop. In the iCloud dialog box you will see "Bookmarks with…" make sure that you select the option to Safari. You should then see "Bookmarks with Safari" and make sure to check the box to the left of the Safari icon. Click on "Apply" at the bottom of this window and you are done.

3.     Go to your iPad or iPad mini and open your Safari Internet browser. You should now see the same bookmark selections at the top of the window including the "Dash it" button. The sync is automatically done through iCloud for you. You are now ready to use Surfdash on your iPad or iPad mini.

For Apple Mac Users

1.     If you are an Apple Mac user you already have iCloud installed on your personal computer or laptop. Under the apple icon in the top menu bar go to System Preferences > Internet & Wireless > iCloud. Make sure to check the box next to Safari.

2.     Go to your iPad or iPad mini and open your Safari Internet browser. You should now see the same bookmark selections at the top of the window including the "Dash it" button. The sync is automatically done through iCloud for you. You are now ready to use Surfdash on your iPad or iPad mini.

Installing and Using Surfdash on your iPhone

Hardware Requirements: iPhone. Apple or other personal computer or laptop. USB cable to connect your iPhone to your computer or laptop.

Software Requirements: Safari Internet browser and iTunes installed on the computer or laptop.

Note: You will be using iTunes with a USB cable to sync your Safari browser settings from your personal computer to your iPhone.

To begin, first examine and set up your personal computer Safari browser bookmark bar settings.

1.     Open the Safari browser on your personal computer or laptop.

2.     Sign in to your Surfdash account.

3.     Add the "Dash it" button to your Safari browser bookmarks bar. Simply drag and drop the "Dash it" logo to the bookmark bar of your browser.  The "Dash it" logo is the orange square located in the top right hand corner of the Surfdash page.

5.     We recommend adding the Surfdash site to your browser's bookmarks bar as well. Simply drag and drop the Surfdash URL icon into your bookmark bar.

Next examine and set your iPhone settings within iCloud for Safari.

1.     On your iPhone go to "settings". Scroll down and select "iCloud". In the iCloud settings make sure that "Safari" is set to "ON".

Finally you will launch the iTunes application from your personal computer or laptop and sync your Safari bookmarks with your iPhone.

1.     Launch the iTunes application. If you do not have iTunes on your personal computer or laptop go to: www.apple.com/itunes/ and download the application for free. You will be prompted to create a new or use your existing apple ID and password.

2.     Connect your iPhone to your personal computer or laptop with a USB to iPhone cable. When connected the iTunes application should recognize and show an icon for your iPhone under "Devices" in the left hand navigation menu list. Click and select this iPhone icon.

3.     Across the top of the large main window in the iTunes application look for and select the top "Info" tab. It is the second tab after "Summary".

4.     Scroll down to view the "Other" category and select "Sync bookmarks with Safari". Now click  "Sync" at the bottom right hand corner of the main window. When all operations are complete, safely disconnect your iPhone. You are now ready to use Surfdash on your iPhone.

Using Surfdash on your iPhone.

1.     Using your iPhone open the Safari browser.

2.     Open a new browser window and sign in to your Surfdash account. For best dashing please make sure to do this step first!

3.     Open an additional window or simply navigate to a web site or video that you would like to Dash or save to your Surfdash account.

4.     Select the bookmarks icon at the bottom of the browser window (looks like an open book). Then select "Bookmarks Bar" and now you may select "Dash it". The normal pop up window "Add to Surfdash" will appear. Once you make your selections "Save as" and "Save to", click the blue "Dash it" button.
